Jack
likes small groups so he can give you more one on one time. If there is enough interest and different needs we can do an AM class as one topic and a PM class as another.  Also, if you would like to Host a Clinic, please visit our "Be a Clinic Host" page on this website.  Here are a few of the clinic formats that Jack offers.  If you have a certain interest we can do a clinic around that need.


Introductory Class

This class is designed for students who are new to horses. If you have had no lessons or very little to do with horses before or if you have had just a few lessons and you are in need of a refresher on beginning concepts and skills. The topics discussed in this class will include the following and more: 


        • Understanding horse psychology and why they think and react like they do.
        • Learn how to work with your horse on the ground building your communication skills and understanding of the horse.
        • Get safer ground manners.
        • How to mount safely and learn the 3 rules of staying on in times of trouble.
        • Introduction in moving your horses body parts and building a strong walk and trot.

 


Awareness Class 1

This class is designed to help the student to become aware of where the horse’s attention is and how the horse is moving his body. How to use your energy and body language to help the horse become more balanced. How that can affect your communication and your partnership with your horse:  


        • Learn the dynamic scale of effectiveness.
        • In hand and lunging exercises to supple and strengthen the horse.
        • Learn to see where the horse is tense or stiff and where he is putting his weight.
        • Learn exercises to help your horse be more balanced and use himself better from the haunches.
        • Become aware of your body parts to improve your balance in the saddle.
        • Become soft, light and polite with your aids on the ground and in the saddle.
        • The importance of riding your horse forward through bends and circles.
       
        Prerequisites:  Have a basic understanding of horses.  To be able to walk and trot your horse from the saddle.

 


Awareness Class 2

This class is designed to help the student to become aware of where the resistance is in the horse’s body and mind.  To prepare your horse for what it is you want them to do. With enough preparation the thing you want will be easy for your horse to do:

 

        • Learn how to overcome stiffness and resistance to make a happier horse.
        • Learn to feel where your horse’s feet are at the different gaits.
        • Learn how your balance and the shifting of your weight can improve your horse’s balance and the direction of travel.
        • Learn the importance of Shoulder in, Counter shoulder in, and Leg Yields.
        • Improve your riding skills and independent seat.
        • How Suppleness. Straightness and Balance give you an engaged and collected horse.
       
        Prerequisites: Awareness Class 1 or the ability to walk, trot and canter from the ground and in the saddle.
        Be able to ride a minimum of 5 minutes in each gait.  Have a basic understanding of Leg yielding.

  


Private Lessons

Private Lessons are usually conducted at Clinics, Workshops, or at Jack's facility.  Lessons can fit the need of the rider at any level. Horse Training

Jack offers a verity of training options. Colt Starting, Problem Horses, Advancing the older Horse, Horse Evaluations, and Foal Imprinting.
