Biography of Jack Lieser
'Road to Natural Horsemanship'

Jack
Lieser is a professional horse trainer and instructor, who combines his joy of horses with his capacity to communicate with both horses and people. Spending the first half of his childhood growing up in a large family on a dairy farm in Minnesota these skills began developing early on.  At 8 years old; along with two of his older brothers, aged 10 and 11 at the time, Jack started his first pony and the three of them were often found bareback riding their two ponies around the countryside.

Moving to south Texas at age 11, Jack was able to obtain his own horse at eighteen.  Working with an old Amish trainer over the next couple years Jack and his young horse took to both buggy and saddle.  During this time he also became interested in dressage and spent 18 months training in that discipline.

In the spring of 1998 Jack began working with the Parelli Natural Horsemanship Levels Program.  The experiences of the next 4 years included in-depth training in Parelli classes and diversified horse activities.   He graduated Level 3 in the Parelli Natural Horsemanship program, implementing all the ideas from his broad scope of training into his horsemanship, expanding his outlook and always increasing his already competent instruction techniques.

Jack Lieser also took as many clinics as he could with Leon Harrel  (2-Time World Cutting Horse Champion, and Cutting Horse Trainer) over the next few years.  Meeting Aaron England at Leon's ranch, Jack started working with Aaron to refine his colt starting skills.  Aaron and Jack continue to work together presenting Colt Starting Clinics.

Jack has also spent time with equine greats like:

Jack is a practitioner and tutor of Equine Touch, a form of muscle and bodywork done to help the horse overcome stiff and sore muscles.

Having worked with hundreds of horses, Jack is competent with all kinds of breeds; from Friesians, Minis, and Mustangs to Warm bloods.  He has developed an innovative style and expertise in training problem horses in areas extending from trailer loading to bucking, rearing, bolting, refusing a jump and the like. Jack's consistency and flexibility to personalities and situations means he can start a green horse and have them under saddle in no time.  With expertise ranging from Dressage to Trail, Cutting and Jumping horses to everything in between, his diversified experience in training has made him competent under stress and adaptable to his student's needs (both human and equine).  He has a step-by-step method of teaching that is simple to understand; focusing on teaching the student how to teach the horse.

Jack has presented clinics ranging from Foundation skills and Intermediate & Advanced ground & riding skills to colt starting and cow working, all using Natural Horsemanship Techniques.  Continually learning, Jack enjoys working with the student at whatever level the student has obtained, whether beginning or advanced, because although he is instructing others he says, "The horses and students are also my best teachers."

Jack teaches Natural Horsemanship Clinics all over the country.  He is currently the head Trainer and Instructor of the Equine Division at the Trades of Yesterday Ministry Training School.  He trains and teaches out of Nostalgia Ranch, the Ministry Training Center in Monte Alto, Texas.

Following is additional info about Jack's Natural Horsemanship mentors and trainers:

Pat Parelli's vision is that one day the term "natural" will no longer have to precede the word "horsemanship." Horsemanship does not need to be mechanical.  With enough savvy, horses and people can achieve fun, excellence, truth and results, harmony, and unity... naturally, through understanding, communication and psychology, rather than force fear and mechanics.

Leon Harrel has realized his childhood dream of becoming a World Champion cowboy many times over.  He is one of the most consistent winners in major cutting horse competitions, and is widely recognized by other horsemen as one of the top cutting horse trainers in the world.  He has claimed the NCHA Futurity Championship twice, and has qualified for the finals 23 times in the 28 years he has competed in the event.  He was inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame in 1989, and was recently awarded an NCHA lifetime membership.

Aaron England worked with Pat Parelli for six years, and was a 3-Star Parelli Instructor.  Aaron's passion for Cutting and his desire to use his skills in Natural Horsemanship in this discipline, lead the way to his apprenticeship with Leon Harrel, two time NCHA Champion and one of the leading Cutting Horse trainers in the world.  Aaron was with Leon in Kerrville, Texas. for two and a half years, before he began development of his International Learning Center in Goldthwaite, Texas.

Jack Brainard has bred and trained horses for over 53 years and judged for a variety of national horse associations for over 40 years.  At 83 he still trains his own two-year-olds.  Most days he can be found schooling horses, teaching students, or traveling the roads to conduct one of his clinics.  His students marvel at his 'easy to understand' presentation of the prerequisites and elements of the 'flying lead change', his positive and motivating approach to both horse and rider, and his never ending enthusiasm for doing what he truly loves.

Peggy Cummings has developed Connected Riding methods to achieve freedom of movement and self-carriage for both horse and rider.  Connected Riding teaches you to ride from the inside (by feeling), to the outside (by action).  It provides you with an awareness of body and movement that empowers you to move in harmony with the horse.  It teaches you how to influence the horse's movement through an elastic connection.  Through a series of ground and mounted exercises, you learn to use the rhythm to lead your horse to enhanced performance.

Jock & Ivana Ruddock are cofounders of Equine Touch, a non-diagnostic, noninvasive, energy and connective soft tissue discipline which works at a complete holistic level.  ET consists of soft tissue vibrations, that when performed correctly with the ET "Move" have the effect of releasing spasms, distortions and adhesions in the connective tissue, and smooth muscle of organs.  In synergy they stimulate the body's natural inclination towards balance and harmony in its structure and function as well as creating awareness of placement and motion within the equine.
