2 DARE

We are excited to release our NEW horsemanship logo. We have been in the process of designing this over the past year using Jack's horsemanship philosophy.

2 DARE is an acronym. The number 2 stands for you and your horse. DARE stands for Dynamic, Aware, Relationship Equilibrium. Each of these words are a facet of Jack's horsemanship methods. This is the basis for all that Jack teaches. He believes in using focus, intent and energy to create this between you and your horse.

The definition of the word DARE is To have the courage or boldness to do or attempt something; venture, n. a challenge.  Jack is known for helping students to step out of their comfort zone and gain confidence. Look for new and exciting classes that Jack will be offering on these topics.

Wilderness Challenge

We spent our September in northern MN at Camp Okonto which is only 4 miles from the Canadian border. This is where we held our second annual wilderness challenge.

This year we held two classes the second and third weekends of the month .We had fun preparing for it which included spending time riding out in search of new trails, creating games for each team and picking wild blueberries along the way.  This year was a great success!

The challenge is a 4 day event with up to 16 riders divided into teams of 4. At the start of each day we did some skill building exercises that correlated to the tasks and challenges the teams would later have to perform out on the trail.

All the tasks are on a point system. Over the four days your teams score is added up. This year the prize was a Wilderness Challenge belt buckle which was won by the teams named the "Ginger's and "Bobby's girls" Congratulations winners!

Next year we will have the Challenge and the new Advanced Challenge for those who DARE.

We would also like to say thank you to the Patton family, Jennifer Fenwick ,the Challenge guides and the participants for making it happen.

Greetings!

Palmquist Farm

The first weekend in May 2008 Jack will present a 4 day "Northwood's Challenge". The focus will be the canter. It will be held at Palmquist Farm, a 110 year old dairy farm renovated to accommodate trail riders. The terrain at the farm is perfect for cantering and galloping your horse. The  trails are wide and lead you through shady forests into grassy fields and sloping meadows. The footing is solid and safe.

Some of the topics Jack will cover are how to stop your horse, build confidence at the higher gaits, transitions, lead changes, the counter canter, and much more. We will divide into teams, play games and have a scavenger hunt. This is a fun way for you and your horse to learn.

The food and accommodations at the Farm are wonderful and the Palmquists are known for their warm hospitality. Please go to www.palmquistfarm.com  to see photos of this lovely place. For more information please contact Sarah at www.jacklieser.com

2 PRODUCTS WE RECOMMEND

Jack did a demonstration at the bluebonnet horse expo (www.bluebonnethorseexpo.com )

this past October in Austin,Tx. While we were there we found a really handy tool, the washing wand XP. It makes getting the horses clean so easy because it washes and scrapes at the same time. We have been using it on our horses and it works well, especially on Dennis who has a thick, curly winter coat. For information go to www.aandmequine.com

I finally found some riding pants that fit over my boots and are affordable, comfortable and look good. They can be found at www.smoothstride.com. My favorite styles are the trail rider and parade pants.  We just wanted to share a few new bargains with you. Hope you enjoy them!
